Greetings!
November always brings warm feelings of gratefulness. This year, I have prepared a thankfulness centerpiece for our dining room table. It isn’t something very fancy, it is a bowl with colored papers in front of it. Each night before dinner, Jason, Robby, and I will each write down something we are thankful for that day – no duplicates from previous days. I’m looking forward to practicing finding the good in each day.
In our sermons this month, we will be focusing on living abundantly. Sometimes we are consumed by the things we wish we had and miss the daily blessings in our lives.
- Our series begins on Sunday, November 3 where we will celebrate All Saints Sunday by giving thanks and remembering folks who passed away in the previous year. The sermon that Sunday is titled Enough to Love and strives to remind each of us how blessed we were by those very folks we are remembering.
- The second week of the series will bring us Enough to Give. This Sunday happens to be the day before Veterans Day. We will include our traditional Veterans Day remembrance in the service and look at how each of us have more than enough to contribute to God’s great kingdom.
- The third week of the month will focus on having Enough to Know. It can be difficult to find truth in the world. This week, we will think about how we can be confident in what we know.
- The final week’s sermon is titled Enough to Live. This Sunday is also Christ the King Sunday which is the final Sunday in the Christian year. In this service, we will remember the gift of life we are offered through Jesus and explore how that might change how we live our lives each day.
- Finally, we will once again participate in a community Thanksgiving Service. This year, it will be held Wednesday, November 27 at Parkwood Presbyterian Church and we will offer thanks for all the blessings we have received from God.
As the Christian year winds to its end, I am hopeful that these autumn days bring to mind things for which you are thankful, and you are able to see the abundance in your lives. I am most thankful for you, this community, and congregation. It is a blessing to be here serving you!
Blessings!
